The NC State ISE Team

The Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at NC State is one of only a few named ISE departments in the U.S. Additionally, it ranks among the top 15 programs in the country according to U.S. News and World Report. Currently, the department has a diverse research focus in:

Operations Research Graduate Program

The OR department works closely with other NC State campus departments, such as Civil Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Business Management. However, you will especially work with the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and the Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering Institute (IMSEI).

Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering Institute

To improve manufacturing productivity and respond to global competition, the Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering Institute (IMSEI) at North Carolina State University is leading the way. IMSEI combines academic and industry experts, resources, and ideas to create cutting-edge manufacturing systems, research and education.

IMSEI’s specific mission is to:

  • Offer multi-disciplinary graduate-level education and practical training in integrated manufacturing systems engineering at the master’s degree level.
  • Combine university and industry expertise to conduct research that develops advanced manufacturing technology.
  • Advance modern manufacturing technology through interactive technology transfer, including internships that connect university research with industrial applications.
